Before you start we recommend you to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understand how UPS works, especially the mapping of configurations to Physical Products<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clarify why you\u2019re migrating. What are the benefits you are looking to obtain from managing SOLIDWORKS data in 3DX such as \u2013 improving efficiency, enabling collaboration, or supporting digital transformation?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Define the scope: all revisions vs. latest only? Released + in-work?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.xlmsolutions.com\/es\/migracion-plm\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">successful migrations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> begin with strong discovery workshops and detailed mapping sessions. Rushing this step leads to costly rework.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Preparing and Cleaning Your Data<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every migration should start with a data quality audit. You\u2019ll want to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check and clean up\/fix duplicate filenames and\/or part numbers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Validate revision history and ensure it conforms to your<\/span><b> 3D<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EXPERIENCE patterns<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confirm proper file references (especially for assemblies and linked parts)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify missing or incorrect meta data (descriptions, owners, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bad data in = bad data out. If needed, we also have tools to help identify and fix these problems early, preventing issues later during import.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Tools for Every Scenario<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Depending on your environment, here are the tools we recommend:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2705 Manual or Batch Save<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Best for folder-based data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simple to use via the SOLIDWORKS Connector<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2705 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.xlmsolutions.com\/blog\/is-edat-enough-for-your-migration-to-3dexperience\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EDAT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ENOVIA Development Acceleration Toolkit)<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ideal for large on-premise migrations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supports full revision history, complex mappings, and orchestration<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2705 XTA (<\/span><b>3D<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EXPERIENCE Transition Assistant)<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Purpose-built for cloud migrations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supports delta loads, full history, and advanced mappings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2705 XPDM and EIF<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For non-Dassault systems like Teamcenter or Windchill<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allows you to transform and import data via STEP X or XPDM XML formats<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We covered tradeoffs between each, including licensing, supported CAD types, and when to use post-processing (e.g., for STEP file generation or derived outputs).<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Testing and Going Live<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our opinion, testing is the most important step which gets overlooked in many migrations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No migration is perfect the first time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ll need multiple test cycles \u2013 each with a structured test plan \u2013 to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Validate revisions\/versions, file references, and meta data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simulate real-world workflows scenarios, create new revisions of data, revise data via SOLIDWORKS Connector, and put such data through change actions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Test with all size assemblies, make sure no performance issues on large assemblies and test with both new and migrated data in the assembly<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify\u00a0 issues, fix and re-migrate,test and validate issues have been resolved<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recommend running 2\u20134 full test migrations before go-live, and documenting every step of the process.
